5 Goals I Set Myself in September
Happy September! Although I left school a very very long time ago, September always feels like a fresh start, the perfect time to reflect and set goals and intentions for the season ahead. It’s a great time to review where you’re at, where you want to be, and how you’re going to get there.
The goals I’m setting myself this month aren’t ground breaking. They are more to help me feel motivated, refreshed and back on track after a relaxed summer. A lot of them are things I have been putting off and have neglected over the summer months so it will be great to finally get them ticked off and completed.
Goal One - A huge and thorough wardrobe declutter. I’ve been putting this off for around 4 years. This has been something I’ve needed to do pretty much since we moved into our current place. Our wardrobe is one of the biggest storage spaces in our apartment so tends to be where we hide away anything we’re not sure what to do with. The wardrobe houses not only our clothes and shoes, but also spare bedding, Xmas decorations, gifts, wrapping paper and a whole load of other random bits. It may be that some of these random items need to stay in there but they can definitely be better organised. I also need to have a major cull of my clothes/shoes and donate or sell anything I no longer use as I know I only wear a fraction of what’s in there.
Goal Two - Produce ALLLLL the content! I’ve wanted to be more consistent with posting content on my blog and Instagram for the longest time but it’s something I’ve always struggled with. As most content creators highlight, consistency is key when it comes to social media so I really want to work on this. Blogging is still fairly new to me, and writing is not my greatest strength so I think a good way for me to be more consistent is to have a few posts prepped in advance instead of producing content as and when. It will be hugely beneficial when I’m feeling less inspired, and will help take the pressure off creating. I doubt I will ever be a blogger who has 6 months worth of content prepped and scheduled ready to go, but having just a couple of posts in the bag would be great.
Goal Three - Get cultural. This is an area of my life that brings me so much joy but I always seem to neglect when I have a lot going on. Whether it’s going to an exhibition, watching a film, or having a wander around a museum, it always leaves me feeling inspired and creative, as well as being a great method of self care. I find it incredibly calming and uplifting so it’s an area I want to put more effort into this month. I need to put in the time to research events that are happening and plan and schedule them in.
Goal Four - READ READ READ. As I’ve mentioned before, this year I set myself the challenge to read 50 books in 2019. Although Summer has been great for me in terms of reading (see my 2019 Summer Reading List here), I’m still very behind on achieving the goal so it’s time to ramp things up. I’m going to set myself the goal of reading 8 books in September. Although I’m going to have to read more than this in the following months to reach my 2019 target, 8 books seems like a realistic goal for this month. September is a fairly busy month in terms of social events (so many birthdays!), and there are other projects I’m currently working on so completing 8 books would be a huge achievement.
Goal 5 - Track and review my spending. I’m fairly good with money and have never been a huge spender but I feel that now the summer months have ended, it’s a good time to take stock of where I am financially and maybe begin to plan for the festive period as we approach the end of the year. I feel like I've hardly looked at my bank balance and spending habits over the last few months. I’m sure I haven’t been wild with my spending but I would like to have a bit of a review and maybe even set a budget for the months ahead.
So those are my September goals, I would love to hear any goals you’re currently working towards. Please leave a comment below.
